On August 26, 2020, the Viet Nam Disaster Management Authority (VNDMA) organized the Consultation Workshop on Promoting Public Private Partnership (PPP) in Disaster Risk Management (DRM) to rationally review and propose new policies to enable and promote the participation of private sector and public private partnership in DRM, in order to reduce disaster related damages.
Ms. Doan Thi Tuyet Nga - Director of Science, Technology and International Cooperation Department and Mr. Nguyen Viet Tien - Director of Legislation and Inspection Department (VNDMA) co-chaired the Consultation Workshop. Attending the Consultation Workshop were representatives of International Organizations (UNDP, Asia Fund) and representatives of enterprises involving in disaster risk management investments.
At the Workshop, the Parties will review and evaluate the status, challenges and problems faced relating to DRM investment administration procedures, policies and legal regulations. Policies and solutions to enable and promote the participation of private sector and public private partnership in DRM are also proposed.
However, there were a small number of enterprises interested in the above issue, so it is difficult to reflect the aspiration to promote public-private cooperation in the field of DRM.
Through today Workshop, the VNDMA expects to receive more comments from enterprises and organizations in order to contribute to completing policies, promote active participation of enterprises in DRM activities.
